Media in the process of organisation

There have so far been a variety of ways in which we have organised ourselves in order to make the creating, organising and critiquing of our video far easier with the use of modern technology. To begin with we created story boards in order to gain a rough idea of what we wished to set out to do at the beginning of the project. Once we gained shots we quickly categorised them using spread sheet to ensure the editing process could be sped up.
Using mediums such as Facebook allowed us to have an instant form of communication with out the worry of
fickle things like a phone being lost/no credit, mainly anything that may create communication problems.

Even for our evaluation and film feedback we made simple to use spread sheets for audience to fill in, this being all in order to allow a better insight into what potentially needed to be changed. Below is an example of a filled out feedback form:

Editing Continues

Editing continues as we work hard to ensure the videos is to the best of our abilities, at this point were dominantly using jump cuts however we hope to use a variety. I have been experimenting with multi screen effects in a separate timeline in order not to threaten the group work. I hope to have a rough draft of it up on the computer by the beginning of next week.

Footage Organisation/cleaning

We have had our band footage for a while now and during that time I have been organising the footage into workable folders. The main reason for this is due to the sheer amount of footage we collected during the evening. As you can see by the diagram of the stage we had three different cameras recording the band throught the night.

First of all I had to watch all the footage (at this point we had over an hour of footage) and then delete all the unusable footage. I then watched the footage that is left and named/catagorised it with footage with similar content, for instance all footage with the crowd was named "Crowd 1, 2, and 3" and placed together. This process was then repeated with the rest of the group to ensure I hadn't deleted anything that was potentially usable in the others opinion. Then we went through the scenes and wrote the information along with potential edits/useful qualtites into a sheet to speed up the editing process.

Group Discussion - Cameras

On Saturday eleventh, we as a group will be attending a gig that the band whose song we have choosen for our media project. The aim of attending is to gain raw footage of the preformance of our be-chosen song. We felt that by using it we could incorparate lipsycing, and help to create a narrative. We have organised to have 4 camera on the occasion. To gain 4 different shots of the gig we have created a map of the club it shall be held at and created a key to sugest where the camera men should be.

Discussion Part 2

As a group we have decided to make a music video for a local band called The Skints. We were initially unsure as to what song we should do but we had originally agreed to do a song with no official video to prevent this from influence not only our ideas for the video but the audiences when viewing it. Therefore we decide on the their song "Up Against The Wall"

As you see by the music the band are a Ska band. They do not have a video for the single. This allows us to become creative as we want without the worry of previous influence. At the moment we are close to coming up with our final concept for the music video which will be an original music video, however it will include mainstream conventions like having the band preforming during the video and lip-syncing.

Group Discussion Part 1

Music video ideas/ discussion

Having talked to the rest of the group we have come to a multitude of decisions:
Ø  We should choose a video with no pre-existing video.
Ø  To create an ‘original’ music video, this would allow us to create our own content rather than have to stick to basic rules and conventions that traditional music videos with narratives usually have.
Ø  Costumes should be a big factor in creating this original take in the video.
Ø  We considered the band ‘The Skints’ who are still one of the most likely bands for us to choose.
Ø  HOWEVER we are still considering songs in the following genres:
Ø
Heavy Metal, Rap, Indie, Scar
